DELYN CONSTITUENCY PARTY An introduction:  The Delyn Parliamentary Constituency forms the north western half of the County of Flintshire in North Wales. It comprises of the main towns of Mold, Flint, and Holywell, together with a number of smaller towns and villages. Population 70,560 Electorate 54,552.  Economy - based on a mixture of agriculture, industry, and tourism. There are strong economic and cultural links with the adjoining Alyn and Deeside Constituency, which forms the other half of Flintshire. Parliamentary & Welsh Assembly Representatives: The local Member of Parliament is presently David Hanson M.P. [Labour]. The local constituency Welsh Assembly Member is Sandra Mewies A.M. [Labour], The Liberal Democrat Welsh Assembly Member representing Delyn and the rest of North Wales is Eleanor Burnham A.M. Local Government:  The Flintshire County Council has 70 members and is controlled by a coalition of Lib Dems, Independents and Conservatives. Delyn Liberal Democrats are a vital and active group, holding regular business and social meetings. They are represented on the North Wales Liberal Democrat Liaison Group, and on the Welsh National Party. A fairly substantial percentage of the local membership could be deemed to be "activists", with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. "Active" members come from a variety of backgrounds, and the different skills and knowledge possessed are used to good effect in promoting the Liberal Democrat message. The membership of the local party varies but is normally about 80.
